Delton Civic Association schedules a tax structure briefing for residents at 8 p.m. on Tuesday October 4 in the Delton Park fieldhouse. Speaker from Dolton village attorney's office to present the breakdown with refreshments for all attendees. Community members urged to attend with neighbors.
The Dalton trustees voted at their Sept. 8 meeting to rename the portion of Lith Street between Woodlawn and Dorchester Ave north of the Bilard right of way. The new name will be Kasten Drive to align with the extension of 146th St. to the east, which has been designated Kasten Drive.
Dolton Fire Department responded at 11:30 p.m. Sunday to extinguish a fire in a car owned by Eugene Mierzwa at 14424 Woodlawn Dolton. The front seat was burned and the cause remains undetermined.
Riverdale police with Dalton police rounded up juvenile delinquents quickly after a police action. Chief Cook said the stern policy will target gangs of young toughs, and stressed cooperation between departments to prevent a gang fight and injuries. Some parents quickly bailed out their sons and friends at the station.
A large pedestal industrial fan valued at 220 dollars was stolen from Container Corporation of America at 301 E 144th Dolton. The theft was reported to the Dolton Police on September 6 by Mr. Cushman.
The Thornridge student council organized multi-vehicle support for away football games with three large buses for the Bradley Thornridge clash and another fleet planned for the Blue Island Thornridge game. The T'ridge Pep Club funds remaining season bus travel while the school runs a busy calendar of activities and honors.
Oscar A Henes longtime Riverdale board member from 1983 to 1957 chaired the Finance and Drainage committees. He helped plan sewer work in Ivanhoe and proposed village annexation of the dump area to curb nuisances. He runs an insurance brokerage at 1824 Edbrooke Shiverdale with his wife Isula and daughter Ursula, a high school junior, and is active in local groups and church activities.
Dolton police charged Karl F. Landry after his ex wife Mary Ann Landry reported he attempted to strangle her. He surrendered following an area search and was held for a preliminary hearing September 27. bonds were set at $1,000.
Walter S. Sala of 117328 Union Chicago struck Edward J. Lambert of 109225 Wallace St Chicago on Halsted Riverdale. Police said both vehicles were damaged in the Thursday morning crash on September 13 at 134th and Halsted.
Congressman Edward J Derwinski will appear on radio station WJJD at 7 15 p m October 6 with Democratic candidate Frank Bousulewski as part of a public service offering ten minutes of free air time to candidates for eleven state offices The programs run every Thursday for eight weeks with opposing candidates on the same night and each recording in advance to ensure equal opportunity to present their candidacy The material will be presented as an address without censorship.
