Boxing Restarts Sept 30 Under Buda A A

The Buda Athletic Association will resume boxing on the night of September 30. Initial plans had suggested a September 16 start, but officials expect a stronger opening later in the month after carnival week. The Ford Air Port Returns Ford Tri Motor to Lansing

The 600 horsepower Ford all metal tri motor cabin monoplane arrived in Lansing on the 28th from Kansas City with Standard Oil Co officials aboard. Pilot Perry G. Hutton and James Phelps supervised a 105 mph cruise in regular gear and 125 mph in high gear. The 12 passenger craft cost $66,000 and lists Eli A. Abramson as chief mechanic with William Barcik and George Kniseley as licensed mechanics.

Homing Pigeon Returns After Severe Injuries

A homing pigeon owned by K. Makowski of 1236 W 108th Street returned home despite losing a leg and most tail feathers. It was part of A. B. Hamilton derby entries from Norfolk, Nebraska. six pigeons came home the same day, three the next morning, and a tenth named Lindy returned three weeks later with major injuries.

Killed in Auto Crash Earl H. Smith Chicago Heights attorney

Earl H. Smith prominent Chicago Heights attorney and longtime local figure died after his car struck a tree near Tinley Park. Walter Remillard and two women were injured. Miss Anna Rath suffered a broken arm. Smith, 39, had served in Abbott Hood Smith and city and county posts before joining the armed forces in 1917. Funeral services were held at his Chicago Heights residence with burial at Oak Lawn cemetery.
