Dal ton Village Board Awards Contracts For Water And Sewer Work

The Dal ton Village Board of Local Improvements awarded two contracts totaling 45 821 25 for street and utility work on Woodlawn avenue and nearby streets. A sewer project contract of 33 453 75 went to O'Brien Brothers Construction Co while the water system was let to Robert O Livers for 12 367 60. Other bids ranged up to 35 389 75 for sewer work and 14 342 20 for water. A public hearing on Improvement No 41 was set for November 5 amid court appeals and proposed rework of the Sibley boulevard area. The engineer's estimate stands at 116 646 29.

Edith Gary weds Donald Bullard in October ceremony

Miss Edith Gary daughter of Mr and Mrs L O Gary married Mr Donald Bullard on a Saturday Oct 6 with Father Furlong officiating at Ascension Church Harvey. Another Sewer For Calumet River

A new sewer system costing about 75000 dollars begins in Harmon's New Roseland subdivision and flows into the Calumet river at Parnell with a four foot outlet. The project serves New Roseland No 1 including Parnell Emerald Union Lowe Wallace Normal and Eggleston avenues plus 129th place 128th street 127th place 128th place and the alley south of Blue Island road. It features 102 manholes 53 catch basins and one concrete bulkhead. Mancini and Ventrella are the contractors under the supervision of William Lee.

New Residents Welcomed in Ivanhoe Community

Ivanhoe greets a host of new residents including Mr and Mrs Fred Moderson on Wabash Avenue and Sergeant and Mrs Stamper in an English cottage on Michigan Avenue. Lawyer Otto Reich Addressed by State Bar Examiners

Honorable Otto F Reich Master in Chancery of Cook County and former neighbor was invited by the State Board of Law Examiners to speak before the Supreme Court of Illinois for the admission of about four hundred new bar admittees. George Pilz of Dolton son of Mrs Helen Pilz married Alice Greening of Sheldon Heights Saturday afternoon October 18 in Valparaiso Ind. They will reside in Dolton at 155 Kanawha Avenue. The groom works for Illinois Bell Telephone Co and has many friends here who wish them happiness.

Sewer Outlet Blocked by Riverdale Board of Improvements

The Riverdale Board of Local Improvements met Wednesday to address a blocked sewer outlet at the Illinois Central Railroad and Calumet River. The S H B R R sewer is obstructed by a driven pile, hindering drainage. Temporary fixes are planned, or a new outlet must be provided immediately.

New Civic Body Forms to Pressure Sanitary District Action

A south side civic federation unites nearly a dozen cities and villages to urge the Sanitary District Board to advance the far south sewer project. Leaders say health and progress demand prompt, non partisan effort with representative committees from Blue Island Harvey Calumet City Riverdale Dolton South Holland Burnham and others. The group plans to present at an Elks Lodge meeting in Blue Island on October 28.

Indiana Avenue Road Condemnation Battle Near Thornton

A court hearing before Judge Webb regarding a planned 100 foot wide concrete Indiana avenue from Sibley boulevard to Vincennes road threatens about 1.4 acres of land owned by Henrietta VanZanten and heirs. The County and State seek the strip for a new highway cutting across Thornton Township farmland while most owners have offered land freely. The VanZanten family demands compensation for the 19 acres they own. Attorney W F Propper appears for the family.

Legion Armistice Day Banquet Planned at St Pauls

Early reports from the American Legion Armistice Day Celebration Committee say the November 11 banquet will close the day’s events with a memorial service parade patriotic service and athletic contests. Wielgorecki’s Cadillac Recovered After Theft

Otto Wielgorecki’s Cadillac stolen from his curb last Monday night was found the next Wednesday morning two blocks east of Chicago Heights. The car was stripped of bumpers battery generator rope tools headlights and three new tires with three old tires left behind. It is seen on the street again awaiting service.

Peanut Kernel Causes Infant Death in Calumet

Shirley Jane Jager aged 1 of 32 West 128th Street died after choking on a peanut kernel from a candy bar. Initial recovery gave way to a fatal strangling spell. post mortem found a peanut kernel lodged in the lung.
