The Chicago Tribune reports officials have bought right of way from Blue Island to the Sag and advertised bids for the first four miles of a canal. The 65 foot wide channel will run 18 feet deep with an average excavation depth of 28 feet and a flow of 2000 cubic feet per second. Construction should finish the four miles within a year on sanitary district land, with 800 feet of right of way purchased for the remaining eighteen miles. Total cost estimated near 5.7 million dollars assisted by land condemnations and dock sites along the route.
