An eyewitness report from Dolton covers the Community Firemen’s Association gathering with about 150 volunteers from multiple towns. The piece stresses appreciation for volunteers, recounts social memories after the meeting, and notes the next gathering in Evergreen Park on January 17.
Mr and Mrs MF Martin with daughter and son in law Hayden Owens and child of Elmhurst Illinois spent Thanksgiving with Mr and Mrs Asher Parker. Mr and Mrs Roy Meurisse and children visited their fathers at Dwight. The Ivanhoe Women’s Club met at Mrs O Neander’s home and outlined their year book. They are invited to a December 4 meeting at 10 30 am at the Chicago Lawn Women’s Club. A children’s dancing recital by Mrs Fred Dunn drew a large audience and a Christmas party is planned May continue on page 8.
The American Legion Auxiliary installed officers for 1929 on November 22, 1928 at the Legion Hall. Wilma Zacher presided as installing officer. New officers include Viola Wiebke president, Bessie Baum first vice president, Sue Wise second vice president, Irene Gary treasurer, Mary Ferguson sergeant at arms, Alice Ghtbett chaplain, Clara Nimtay leading saintsy, Emily Kiplegy and Meta Schmied as members.
Baseheart Mary Elizabeth Baseheart of Dalton and Herman Horn Jr. were married Thursday morning at 9 30 at Saint Marys church Riverdale with Father Liebreich officiating. A wedding breakfast followed at the bride’s home and the couple plan a honeymoon to several Ohio cities then begin housekeeping at 71 East 136th Street Riverdale. The Pointer joins friends in wishing them happiness.
Trois McDonald admitted to the murder of his cousin Edna Elliott at Halitndnd last July in Porter county. He received a life sentence in Valparaiso Circuit Court after shooting the bride when she refused to leave her husband, then turned the pistol on himself. He had been indicted for murder while under treatment in a Hammond hospital.
The International Live Stock Exposition begins December 1 at the Chicago Stock Yards. Alaska and Australia will be represented as thousands of visitors from around the world view farming from an international perspective. Carload classes reach record prices with over 2500 head judged before the auctioneer. The event will feature harness horses ponies saddle horses and other entertainment nightly, with total attendance expected well above 11 000.
Mrs Pauline Slaughter and a committee prepared Christmas Seals at the Health Center to support the Infant Welfare Clinic and nurse services. Forty babies are registered with health instructions for mothers, while Dr Robbins previously served the clinic but left for the Minors State Medical College. The nurse Miss Itter will weigh and measure babies on the last Thursday monthly until a new doctor is found, and mothers are referred to their family doctors for care. The nurse visits 135 tubercular and other patients, with clinic attendance ongoing. Messages and donations to the Christmas Seal fund aid Dolton health services and children.
A December calendar of Dolton activities includes Bazaar and Supper by Dolton M. E. Ladies' Aid on December 6, Pirates of Dolton dance on December 1, Christmas Sale by St. Paul’s Lutheran on December 7, and an all day E. church meeting December 5. Red Cross charity through W C T U on December 7, Our Saviour's Church social December 5, raffle延期 moves to December 7, Pirates basketball game tonight, Dolton Woman's Club bullto party November 30, and officers elections December 4 for Dolton Royal Neighbors. Also Dobmn Eng Co No 2 meets December 5.
Four speeders were arrested in Calumet City and Chicago area on weekend, with bail amounts noted. Local notices include Thanksgiving travel, a banco party at Dolton Village Hall, scarlet fever cases in the Krueger children, and hunting trips near Sidnau Michigan. Other items: Bob Kinney's Kansas City trip, new James Barber and Beauty Shop opening, Coolidge medal for Harry Nauman, and the St Paul church Little Symphony concert Friday night.
Members of Lowvale Lodge A F and A M hold Past Officers Night Saturday at the Masonic Hall. A supper will be served at 6 o clock at Our Saviours church.
