Dolton Board Approves Bookkeeping Billing System

At a Dolton Village Board meeting last Monday the board unanimously voted to install an Elliott Fisher bookkeeping and billing system to handle twelve to fifteen thousand annual special assessment bills. The system, costing about $2,000 plus forms, could be run by one operator and potentially save costs over time. The board also authorized $5,000 in anticipation tax warrants due to delayed tax money.

Plan for Lincoln Avenue school gym and classrooms

Plan GYMNASIUM on Board of Education proposes a new gymnasium and two classrooms at Lincoln Avenue school. An election will be held Saturday, November 19, to approve a $50,000 bond issue for improvements including lighting and heating upgrades. The district has 307 voters urging construction. taxes will not increase as bonds retire in 1930 and new bonds begin 1931.

John O'Brien Dies Veteran Railway Conductor

John P. O'Brien of Dalton former yardmaster and longtime C E I railroad conductor died Sunday after cataract surgery. He championed Safety First, faced a switchmen strike with comrades, and died at 62 leaving a widow two children a brother and three sisters. Funeral at St Marys Riverdale with Requiem High Mass and Rosehill interment. He was active in Switchmen Union Knights of Columbus Eagles Moose and Knights and Ladies of Security.

American Legion Officers Nominated For 1928 Post

Paul Gall Post held a meeting nominating officers for 1928 including commander vice commander and finance officer with an election set for November 22. A lively contest is expected and members are urged to attend the Armistice stag tonight. About 15 Woman's Auxiliary members attended Wednesday's meeting at the club house where a banco party with prizes was held chaired by Doc Johnson. The event date is December 3 at Dolton village hall.

Mrs. Harry Kummerer underwent goitre surgery at Blue Island hospital on Thursday and is reported recovering nicely from the operation.

The Riverdale village board met last Tuesday with all members present. Treasurer reports show general fund $1,031.04 and other funds $9,252.57. Reports committee audited treasury and collector books, finding them correct. Drainage committee notes sewer contractor making better progress.

Mr and Mrs John Radtke of 19 W 138th Street marked their silver wedding on a Saturday evening November 5 with local relatives at home. Detroit guests joined the party and gifts were lively. Family Visits Culver Student Soldier in Indiana
