The Riverdale Department of Public Works continues installing fire hydrants at a rate of three per month across the village. The project aims to improve firefighting infrastructure and coverage in all neighborhoods.
Mr Pais, former eighth grade teacher, founded his own real estate firm at 182nd Street in South Holland. He served four years as village trustee, chairing health water drainage and Civilian Defense committees and sitting on finance streets and alleys and other panels. He did not seek reelection to focus on business. He and his wife Edith live at 321 East Pl South Holland. He is a hunter gun collector licensed ham radio operator and served two years in the Army Signal Corps in the Pentagon.
Three vehicles were damaged in a chain reaction crash on Indiana Avenue in Riverdale on the evening of October 25. Edwin R. Brink of Chicago Heights failed to stop for a waffle ahead, hitting Robert H. Lawn of Harvey, who then pushed Reid 5. Wilson of Dalton into another car. Riverdale Police reported all three vehicles were southbound on Indiana Avenue when the collision occurred.

The Thornton Township Police Association holds its second annual Civil Defense Benefit Dance on Saturday November 18 at UrbaniK's Hall 364 Torrence Calumet City. Dr. Dancing starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost 1 dollar. Ralph Lewis Orchestra provides music. Proceeds fund equipment for civil defense programs.
The district approves bids for a new school addition and outlines plans for special education classes. A survey in Thornton Township seeks need for extra rooms to serve partially blind partially deaf multiple handicapped and trainable mentally handicapped pupils. Eight students currently attend from 149 and nearby districts. up to fifteen expected by January 1 1982. Costs are shared between the state and districts with pro rata contributions.
President Francine Stephens announces Paul Gall Unit No. 303 and Paul Gall Post No. 303 will take part in the Veterans Day observance on November 11 at 11 a.m. at Dolton Village Hall 14014 Park. A wreath will be placed on the soldiers monument by pres. Stephens.
Immanuel Church selects a steering committee in September to evaluate study reports and proceed with relocation. Last month the congregation consented to follow the committee’s recommendation and begin interviewing architects for the proposed new building. The committee will direct relocation and construction while the congregation retains ultimate responsibility to ensure a tribute to 75 years of labor and a facility to expand ministry.
Dorothy Kainrath and Peggy Kainrath ages 3 of 13924 Prairie Chicago were taken to St Francis Hospital by ambulance Wednesday evening Oct 25. They suffered facial cuts when their car struck a parked vehicle on 137th street at State in Riverdale. Mrs Kainrath's vehicle sustained extensive damage to the left side.
An odd remark mentions rear and side damage to a car owned by Andrew Baumgartner on East 137th Street in Riverdale and then shifts to a jarring instruction about using a lighted match under false teeth if a hot plate is unavailable.
