Taxpayers seek reduced assessments through appraisal firm
Thornton Township Taxpayers Association plans to hire a bonded appraisal firm to challenge high valuations. Fees target 25 to 35 dollars per property with court action funded by the firm if overvaluations are found. The move follows talks with Attorney Struckman and a mandate to publicize the plan township wide.

Razor 120 Years Old Still In Use In Nocona Barber Shop
A barber in Nocona Texas uses a razor purchased in 1810 in Pine Point Alabama. Lloyd Burgin owns the blade which his great grandfather bought for 75 cents. The razor has passed through three generations and remained in daily use for 120 years. A Lost notice appears at Riverdale 254.

Wachter, a 4149 Byron Avenue veteran, and Emmet Murphy, a new recruit, had worked all day at the Calumet River bridge where a hose line was laid. The incident followed a day of loafing near the river and suggests the men consumed home brew.
