Local Tax Bills Rise for Dolton Riverdale in 1938

Dalton and Riverdale will send 1938 tax bills in Thornton township with higher composite rates. Dolton rises to 6.81 from 6.61, Riverdale to 5.96 from 5.84, while Ivanhoe Park district stands at 5.80. School district 148 lowers to 1.40, tax books due soon and bills mailed about April 1.

Lincoln School Presents Tom Sawyer Operetta

Lincoln School will stage Tom Sawyer in the auditorium on March 30. Admission is 25 cents for adults and 10 cents for children. The all grades cast portrays Tom and Huck's adventures including a midnight cemetery visit, Injun Joe, hidden treasure, a pirate life, a cave encounter, a funeral, Becky Thatcher, and a happy ending with Widow Douglas guiding Huck.

Riverdale and Harvey youths starred on WENR radio Sunday March 19 as Morris B. Sach's Amateur Hour showcased George Weire who sang Ive Got to Get Some Shut Eye and John Sentesi who played The Bee on violin. Both earned praise for future radio and music work with Weire featured last and Sentesi noted for concert master experience. Next Sunday's contest results will be announced March 26.
