Riverdale Dalton Lions Club Wins Charter at Dalton

In a ceremony at St Pauls auditorium Dalton the Riverdale Dalton Lions club organized February 9 received its Lions International charter before 279 attendees including charter members and guests. Ed Sullivan first president received a wrist watch as charter formalities closed with District governor John G. Rietz presenting the charter.

Gains Shown Again by Harvey Federal

February new money for Harvey Federal Savings and Loan Association rose 75 percent from a year earlier to 26 900 91. Shareholders total reached 1 537 440 68 with Harvey residents accounting for 50 83 percent. Net 53 new shareholders joined the month bringing owners to 1 143, up 74 percent since Feb 1938. Washington School Operetta Set Sail For Spring Show

The seventh and eighth grades at Washington grade school rehearse a nautical operetta titled H. M. S. Pinafore. The performance features the famous English duo Gilbert and Sullivan in their classic collaboration.

Candidates File in Village and Park Elections

Twenty candidates filed petitions in Dolton and Riverdale on March 14, the final filing day. The Dolton Citizens party will place three incumbents on the ballot for four year trustee terms. Riverdale features two parties with a full slate for trustees and a police magistrate. Park races in both towns include Riverdale and Dolton seats with incumbents contending for six year terms and unexpired terms.

Woman Hurt When Her Car Hits Tree

Mrs. Ola Hock of 18147 Highland Avenue Homewood Illinois suffered severe facial injuries when her car left Halsted street near 145th struck a tree. Dolton Board Approves Revised Subdivision Plan

Dolton village board approved a revised subdivision plan presented by Dr. Carl H. Thomson. The changes enlarge lots from 40 to 50 feet between Indiana Avenue and the C. and E. I. railroad, with earlier plat approval reconsidered and the former plat rejected. The board also moved to settle tax warrants and discussed railroad hump relief and rate-change hearings before the Illinois Commerce Commission.

Lenten Services Held at Dalton First Methodist Church
