Edward Bachmann a Riverdale resident for 63 years died at his son Otto Bachmanns home in Tinley Park on June 17 at age 85 years 7 months and 10 days He came to America in 1862 lived with his uncle Frederick Rau married Elizabeth Wetzle in 1869 His wife died 18 years ago He leaves three sons Henry Blue Island George Harvey Ill Otto Tinley Park 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Funeral services were held June 19 at St Pauls church conducted by Rev Kemnitz Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery

Confidence man fleeces shopper at Lentier’s trocery store

A stranger posed as a customer in Richard Lentier’s trocery store on Indiana Avenue last Thursday. He traded a twenty dollar bill for twenty singles, then left with a roll of singles missing two dollars. Mrs. Lentier opened an envelope awaiting the buyer’s return and found it empty, marking a successful con and a loss of twenty dollars.

Fire at General Market House May Be Motor Overheat

Smoke observed through a transom on Leyden avenue led Engine Co 118 to the General Market house where firemen found the blaze originated from the burning out of the ice machine motor truck 27. Chief Moore and the 17th Battalion arrived promptly. A later note lists upcoming Major Ennis Camp No 79 meeting and Mrs Stier's return from Michigan to Shelby with granddaughter Marie Ehlers.

Turnverein Sends 400 to Cologne for International Games

Four hundred members of the Illinois Turnverein left Chicago by special train to join the tenth annual German Turner celebration in Cologne Germany. The event features athletic games and drills. Death of Margaret Engelman at 24

Margaret Engelman aged 24 years 8 months 4 days daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Engleman of 132 Forest Avenue Dalton died June 22 after spinal trouble. Funeral services were held June 25 and interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery Thornton.
