Elizabeth Robinson Wins Place on U S Olympic Track Team

Elizabeth Robinson of the I.W.A.C. earned a spot on the United States Olympic track team for Amsterdam in the 100 meter dash. She finished second in Philadelphia trials to Ella Cartwright, becoming the lone Chicago woman chosen, with Nellie Todd and Helen Filkey falling short.

Dolton Population Rises While Nearby Suburbs Listed

S W Strauss Company figures show Dolton at 3500 in 1928, up 200 from 1927. Other totals include Blue Island 17000, Calumet City 16090, Chicago Heights 30000, Hammond 72650, Harvey 20050, Lansing 4200, South Holland 2150, Thornton 900, with Chicago at 3266928, an eight percent year gain. Riverdale excluded from the report.

The Harvey Chamber of Commerce launches its first annual exposition from Monday July 9 to Saturday July 14. Odd Fellows Lodge Planned in Dalton Community

About twenty Three Link members met at the Masonic Hall to organize a local Odd Fellows lodge for Dalton. Walter Novak presided, P. E. Hampton named secretary, and Henry Knuth named treasurer. A Friday meeting at Paul Gall Post headquarters will push final approval and invite ex members to join.

Lammert Yonker Dies After Illness at 63

Lammert Yonker longtime assistant postmaster at Riverdale station died at Roseland Community hospital after a two week illness of double pneumonia. He was 63 and resided at 109 Tasman Avenue Morgan Park. The funeral was held yesterday and many Riverdale residents mourn his loss.
