Dolton Board Considers $150 Fee to Open Concrete Streets

In regular session the Dolton board debated charging $150 to open a concrete street as a guarantee it will be restored. The Gas Company repairs holes after openings on Greenwood Road Main Street and 144th Street, with neighbor repairs to be billed back. The water plan includes gasoline engine equipment in the village hall to pump water and a drinking vitain on the first floor. Property owners seek improvements in Matrer's division awaiting court action. Cement walks mandated on 138th Street and lacking sidewalks on Forest Park and Kanawha avenues.

Legion Post 303 Plans Meeting and Carnival Dates

The Paul Gall Post 303 will hold a regular meeting next Tuesday at the Dugout. The carnival is scheduled for August 15 to 21. An executive committee meeting is set for Monday evening at the Dugout with a call for suggestions.

New Bridge For South Holland Approved

The County Board, in session, appropriated 75000 to build a new bridge over the Calumet river on Indiana avenue to be constructed by the Village of South Holland. Governor Small signed bills expanding Chicago bonding authority by 60000000 for improvements including Park and Indiana avenues from 55th street south to the city.

Veteran Denver detective Peter Koehler dies at 74

Peter Koehler a 44 year veteran of policing in Chicago and Denver died at his home 416 S Humboldt at age 74 after a stroke. He served 22 years with the Denver force and earlier 22 years in Chicago where he was the youngest detective. He helped recover stolen goods and once faced a lynching attempt. He is survived by wife Kate, three sons and several grandchildren with funeral plans pending arrival of his son.

Bids Sought to Replace Skylight Sash at Lincoln Avenue

Death of Mrs. Helen Breyfogle in Chicago Neighborhood

Mrs. Helen Breyfogle died at her nephew Oscar Breyfogle's home at 127th and Halsted streets Sunday July 3 aged nearly 60 years widow of Charles Breyfogle resident of the area for almost six decades. Fire destroys barn and poultry on East Main Street

A fire at a farm house on East Main Street in Dalton destroyed a barn along with several hundred chickens, farm implements and harnesses after an unknown cause. The Dalton Fire Department saved the summer kitchen near the barn using well water and firefighting chemicals. Insurance partly covered the damage.

The Dalton Park District Board organized on Wednesday evening, July 27, electing W. J. Haney as president and J. O. Nairn as secretary. No funds are available for actions requiring money, and the board will act as a committee to inspect sites suitable for park purposes in Dolton. Members include W. J. Haney, J. O. Nairn, W. S. Wilcox, Edith Dolton and Pauline Slaughter.

Williams Scholl wed in Harvey at St Pauls Lutheran

Paul Williams of Harvey married Miss Ednad Scholl youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Scholl in St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church with Rev Walter Kemnitz officiating. Family trio returns after two week Ohio West Virginia tour

Branigar Dies. Riverdale Builder Leaves Widow and Daughters

Wilbur W. Branigar of Branigar Bros. Realty, aged 46, died Saturday July 2 leaving widow Elizabeth and two daughters Katherine and Mary. He built Riverdale Ivanhoe subdivision and will be mourned as a leading Chicago businessman. Funeral and Masonic rites were held at Memorial Park cemetery after services at his Kenilworth home.

Village Leases 11 Acres to Washington Park for 1930

The Village Board leases 11.9 acres to Washington Park Corp for 5 149, with rent based on 1800 per acre, payable 2 574 50 immediately and 1 287 25 for 1926 27, plus 1 287 25 due in 1928 and 1929. The deal includes tax responsibility by the lessee and an option to buy at 21 554 20, while plans call for a park, nine hole golf course, and clubhouse as part of Washington Park’s future improvements.
