Bride Dies In Crash On Thornton Chicago Road
A six month newlywed wife, Mrs. Marcella Hughes, 20, died from skull fractures after a car skidded on a wet Thornton Chicago road one mile north of Ridge road. Her husband James Hughes and two others were injured. coroner’s inquest returned a standard accident verdict.

Edwin S. Gamble Dies in California at 67
Edwin S. Gamble of Harvey and Chicago helped found the Chicago and Riverdale Lumber Company in 1897 and served as president until 1928. He died in Pasadena California after a long asthma battle and a severe cold. Funeral services are planned at his Pasadena home with burial locally.

The Dolton village board met Tuesday with all members present. Trustee Weber returned to chair. finances approved. December 1934 balance $2,208.50. A skating pond site west of Chicago Street was chosen due to flooding constraints on Adams Street. County commissioners promised cooperation to pave Greenwood Road from Chicago Street to 159th Street, linking several streets.
