The American Legion Auxiliary Paul Gall Unit 303 meets February 24 at 8 p.m. with Helen Grapenthien presiding. Americanism essays The Statue of Liberty and What It Means To Me are judged with cash awards. Donations aid March of Dimes and American Cancer Society. Members helped Mothers March as dog coupons and dog food coupons collected. Rehabilitation chairwoman sent candy to Oak Forest Home Orland Park and Tinley Park Mental Hospital. The Dolton Inhalator Squad administered oxygen for about twenty four minutes on Monday February thirteenth to David Kelley aged eight of 14809 Oak Street Dolton who was having difficulty breathing.
Dolton-Riverdale Junior Woman's Club invites young women in the area to an Open House at the Dolton Park fieldhouse on Feb 28. A Vogue Fashion Sewing Contest will judge garments by club members with first prize a trip to Europe. A civil defense discussion, a crazy hat display, and a Misericordia Home drive are planned.
Mrs. William Zesch Jr announces the engagement of Pamela K Zesch to Thomas E McCaslin son of Mr and Mrs John P McCaslin both Riverdale residents. They are Thornton Township High School ’60 alumni. Pamela works as secretary for American Oil Co and Thomas is a laboratory technician for Sherwin-Williams Co. A late summer wedding is planned.
The Ivanhoe Junior Woman's Club will hold Nominations Night on Monday Feb 27 at 8 pm at the Ivanhoe Park fieldhouse. Mrs George Schultz chairs the nominating committee with help from four other members. The program features an RKO film Danger Sleuths highlighting home fire and accident hazards followed by speaker Amalia Miller. Hostesses include Mrs Walter Sokes and others.
The Bowen PTA invites all to its annual Scholarship Breakfast at the Riverdale Park fieldhouse on Monday February 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. Homemade coffeecakes rolls doughnuts coffee tea and milk will be served. Mrs A Lowery chairs the event and hopes PTA members and friends attend. Proceeds support scholarships.
