Riverdale Plans Snow Plow Purchase And Village Expansion

Riverdale officials completed negotiations for a used Caterpillar snow plow to be delivered within ten days. The board also approved buying two lots at 137th place and Wabash avenue for a village building to house vehicles and supplies, with the purchase set at 38,500 dollars.

Lions Club to Meet Tonight at 6 30

The newly organized Lions club of the community will hold a 6 30 meeting at the Redwoods 600 West 158th Street Riverdale with a report from the nominating committee and remarks by Bryan B. Blalock. About 100 men from nearby Lions clubs and local business leaders are expected. Members urged to attend or join. dinner serves at 6:30 followed by the meeting. Lions International describes itself as a nonprofit service organization of over 3000 clubs across multiple countries.

Abbie Miller Wins Trip to Phillips Petroleum Ranch

Abbie Miller returned home February 4 after a prize trip for top sales in the district. He and seventeen co winners toured Bartlesville Oklahoma, the Phillips main office and labs, a private zoo and museum, oil wells in Oklahoma City, the Phillips 100 octane plant, and the Osage Indian reservation. Miller runs a Phillips service station at 198th Street and Leyden Avenue.

Scout Leaders Gather for Harvey Dinner Award Ceremony

More than four hundred scout leaders, parents, and friends attended a pot luck dinner at Bryant School in Harvey Illinois on February 6. Troop 17 Dal ton and Troop 9 Riverdale were honored with plaques for ten or more representatives, presented by Harold G Boltz. Markham received a special award for largest adult turnout with a life size scout handbook cover image. An audit of funds from the recent drive will be conducted Friday at First National Bank in Dalton.

George W Walton of Harvey died Friday morning February 38 a native of Devers Willsboro England born January 18 1861. Two Bandits Rob Illinois Central In Riverdale Heist

Two men staged a daytime robbery at the Illinois Central Riverdale station on Wednesday morning. They held William Kerrigan at the 137th street platform, stole about $81 from the drawer and Kerrigan’s cash, then forced him to help while they ripped phone wires and fled in a yellow 1935 Ford sedan with red wheels. Police traced the suspects via fingerprints and tips, with earlier unreported thefts noted and subsequent capture weeks later near a Chicago Northwestern office.

Dolton Village Hall announces folk dancing schedule

On Friday February 10 the dancing runs 6 to 7 30 p m with the hall occupied later. From then on dancing will be Fridays 6 to 8 30 p m except the second Friday each month 6 to 7 30 p m.
