New Lions Club Set for February Ninth Meeting
The Dalton Riverdale area forms a new Lions club with charter members totaling thirty five. Representatives from Blue Island Roseland and Lansing clubs will attend a February 9 meeting at 6 30 p m to discuss officers and membership. Temporary officers are Walter May president and E J Sullivan secretary. Charter members listed include Louis J Albrecht Robert D Alverstrom Herman J Anders Daniel C Bachmann and many others.

Hi League enters finals for Chicago area drama contest
The Hi League of the Dalton Methodist Church won the district drama contest at Vincent church. On January 21 the play Rumors Wanted will be in the Chicago finals at the Church of the Redeemer Adams and Sacramento boulevard. Four winning plays from Chicago area will compete judged by prominent NBG actors with curtain at 8 p.m.

Open Second Semester of Kindergarten at Lincoln and Other Schools
The second semester of the kindergarten will open for parents desiring to enroll children at Lincoln school and at Ivanhoe or Roosevelt schools. Classes run 12 50 to 5 15 at Lincoln and 8 50 to 11 40 at Ivanhoe Roosevelt. Under Dorothy Dickey the class is staging an old time minstrel show with dances jokes songs and end men.

Mrs Harold Gundaker and daughter of Dalton returned home after visiting relatives and friends in Cleveland Ohio. Thursday January 26. Mr Schrum a fireman on the C and EB I railroad was rushed to City hospital Tuesday January 31 after being taken seriously ill.

Blizzard Closes Streets After Major Snow The South Suburban area faced a heavy blizzard.
A severe storm dumped over a foot of snow and 2 to 4 foot drifts in the Chicano area causing transit halt and isolation. Central trains ran near schedule while snowplows cleared roads including 137th street. Thornton Township schools reopened by Tuesday.

Prowler Attempts Five Dalton Home Burglary Run
A lone prowler attempted to enter five Dalton homes near Lincoln and Irving avenues early Thursday morning January 28. His only loot was an overcoat taken from the August Tragen residence on Irving avenue. The thief used a stolen ladder from Fred Lundquist’s yard at 44287 Lincoln Avenue. Snow footprints traced the entries.

Driver Injured When Car Hits Tree on Lincoln Avenue
Dalton police report a driver sustained facial lacerations after losing control on Lincoln Avenue near Irving, his car striking a tree before the Frank Seestadt residence. He was treated at the Seestadt home. Dr. Phil G. Zaks treated injuries and Zaks was arrested for reckless drivinginjury.

Legion Seeks Parley to Boost Private Jobs
The American Legion will launch a two day conference at the Morrison hotel starting February 3 to unite industry labor and government leaders. Illinois officials and executives from the Employers Association of Chicago the Illinois Manufacturers Association and the State Employment Service will join in examining ways to reopen private employment to relief and WPA workers. The talks led by Lawrence J. Fenton and Charles W. Falkenberg aim to propose steps to increase private work and activate Legion posts across Illinois.

Onion Set Building Burns in Riverdale Loss
Riverdale firemen aided by Blue Island and Harvey units battled three hours to extinguish a blaze at the Ray Onion set warehouse at 387th and Halsted, causing an $8,000 loss. The origin was undetermined. the building and contents were saved from further damage despite heavy snow and blizzard conditions.

Miss Ruth Pierson and Miss Helen Horn of Chicago received honorable mention in the Sons of the American Revolution essay contest held at Fenger High School. Seniors, they tackled Good Citizenship in Chicago with Pierson praising Jane Addams and Samuel Gompers and Horn highlighting Herman J. Father of Nine Killed in Dalton Hit and Run
Frank Lottino aged 53 of Dalton was struck on Greenwood road around 7 40 p m Friday night by a hit and run driver and died from skull fracture and internal injuries suffered earlier. Lawrenceson survived with his family and a coroner's jury adjourned the inquest for further police investigation. Funeral services were held at St Marys church with burial in Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

Election of officers for the Sons of the American Legion squadron
The newly formed Sons of the American Legion squadron elected officers on January 25 in the Dalton village hall Legion room. Elected were Jack Hankey president John Bartolon first lieutenant Siegel Bock second lieutenant Paul Sehmiedi adjutant Henry Bonse finance officer David Johnson chaplain Vernon Reinke historian.
