Safe Crackers Try Robbery At Riverdale Store
Riverdale police found the Safe in a high raid after burglars entered through a skylight of the Safe Crackers Burglary at the High Low Supermarket on 144th in Riverdale Friday night. The intruders burned the back door and broke into the cash register area as they attempted to access the safe. The loss total remains undetermined.

Nine Men Ill From Dump Fumes At 138th And Ashland
Riverdale police report seven men from Baltimore and Ohio railroad crew became ill from smoke and fumes rising from a dump at 138th street and Ashland avenue. Two new workers also fell ill. Association members discussed the nuisance at a recent meeting. Owner Charles Fritz has been fined 1600 and a municipal court complaint is pending. Chicago plans an injunction. Fritz says only wood and paper burn but other materials are disposed of by burial. Riverdale enforces a one mile dumping ban and vows to continue investigations to curb the nuisance.
