The Panhandle Railroad will discontinue the two daily passenger trains between the Bernice cut-off and Chicago starting next Sunday with Saturday the last day. Mail and accommodation trains have operated for over 50 years through Dalton and Riverdale, but declining patronage forced the cutback. Manhole Explosion Injures Three Boys Near Bowen School

Illinois Bell Telephone Co signs a five year lease for 7500 square feet on the second floor of the F. & W. Grand Building at 113th Street and Michigan Avenue. The move brings about 200 employees to the South End and covers Beverly, Chesterfield, South Chicago, Riverdale, Pullman and Commodore exchanges.
