Players will compete as Acme Steel of Riverdale with most workers at Acme. A three day district tournament is planned for next week Friday to Sunday to crown the district’s best, with clubs Acme Archer Homewood Loyola Aces Lindsays Donkey Club among potential entrants.
Peter VerWey Sr. longtime resident of the community died March 31 from a heart attack aged 68. He worked at the Buda Co. plant Harvey and collapsed at noon while talking with fellow workers. He was taken to Ingalls Memorial hospital and died en route. He lived with his family in the Verhoeven cottage on 147th Street. Funeral services were held Wednesday at his home and at South Holland.
Dolton Troop 1 reports Scouts Propper Heinke Jacobsma and Schaeffer passed Second Class. Ingraham G Dale and J Odle earned First Class. Ingraham also earned a Music merit badge. Ripley demonstrated Firemanship Merit Badge requirements. Four Dolton scouts hold Firemanship badges. Officials plan to buy insignia. each scout must own a shirt to wear it. Parents urged to ensure proper uniform at meetings.
A sample ballot mailed to voters urges backing the Deneen slate in Cook County. The message promises good government and a return of respect for law and order, focusing on decency and restoring public trust in local governance.

Friends of the Goeringers hosted their silver wedding anniversary on Saturday evening March 29. Attendees included Henry and family, Alex and family, Rev W J Kemnitz and family, Wm Vanderipe, Bertha Goos, C F Keller and Lydia, Krikau, Wm Steinhauer Sr and family, Wirth and family, Aug Markus Sr, Russell Lapell and Peter Huber and families, Miss Mary Wirth, August Krueger and Ernie Holbeck. Rev Kemnitz led a short ceremony and a delicious supper followed. The couple received many presents, including a telegram from their daughter and son in law Fred Kridau in Winnipeg, Canada.
William Beckhoff, 21, member of a three man gang that robbed Lindsay confectionary on November 1, admitted guilt in court as his mother wept. He was held to the grand jury for armed robbery with $5,000 bond while authorities tied him to prior gang crimes across Harvey and Chicago Heights.
Miss Grace Cogswell daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Cogswell of Dolton married Saturday March 28 to Mr Earl Vincent of Harvey. The bride is described as popular and the groom as steady and successful. They will begin housekeeping soon in Harvey as friends extend best wishes for happiness.
The Ladies Aid at Dolton M. E. church will run an Apron and Bakery sale at the former A. P. store site in Dolton on Saturday April 12 from 10 a m to 4 p m. The Ladies Aid at First Reformed Church South Holland will host a Miscellaneous Sale on Wednesday April 9 from 2 p m to 7 30 p m in the church basement. All are invited.
Sealed bids will be received by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Dolton up to 8:00 PM Tuesday April 8 1930 for decorating the clinic room in the Village Hall. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. WM G Dolton Village Clerk.
