Riverdale board approves man controlled blinker lights for the 140th street crossing of the IHB tracks after discussions with Dolton and railroad officials. The plan aims to provide 24 hour protection. gates at the crossing may be reconsidered. Other actions include street protection at 138th street, notifying Public Service Co. to remove a guide wire, and plans for water mains along the IHB tracks with railroad funding and a favorable routing near the village reservoir.

Ford Skid Incident Sends Family to Hospital

Max Sellin of Highlawn his wife and three year old Junior escaped serious injury when their Ford skidded on Indiana Avenue at 142nd Street, turning on its side and then upside down. They crawled out and were rushed to Ingalls Memorial hospital where all were treated for cuts and bruises. Junior suffered a head cut. Max bruised his arm and Mrs. Sellin bruised her back but all were released to go home after treatment.

Harold Diekman died from an accidental foot wound leading to septicemia. Taxpayers Committee Files 7500 Complaints on Review Day

The Calumet Township Taxpayers Committee filed 7 500 complaints with the Board of Review last Wednesday at 11 35 chaired by O F Reich. Thornton Township roll will be taken up next week with a final examination of figures by boards, and complaints accepted through April 2. This is the last chance to protest excessive tax raises.

Snow Storm Opens City Streets After Three Day Freeze

The worst snow storm in years began Monday March 24 and lasted three days, halting railroads and streetcars. By Friday the streets are open and traffic resumes as 17 inches of snow produced drifts up to 15 feet. Over 40 million dollars spent on snow removal. 40,000 workers employed. elevated lines carried nearly 860,000 passengers Wednesday and 1,000,000 Thursday.

Marine enlistment spurs Conrad Seip toward world travel

Washington March 24 Conrad Seip of Riverdale Illinois joined the Marine Corps in Chicago and trained at Parris Island South Carolina. Over the next four years he could be sent abroad, serve on a battleship or cruiser, or undertake varied Marine duties depending on vacancies at many stations. Seip age 19 born in Lansing is son of Mrs Kattie Seip 18829 Edgebrook Ave Riverdale. His enlistment began February 5 and future assignments await available posts at home or overseas.
