Turquette, Alvin Dale longtime geologist Navy veteran dies

Alvin Dale Turquette died at 95 on September 12 following a long life that included a World War II Navy career as a lieutenant commander and a role in planning D-Day operations. He lived in Denver and Albuquerque, owned The Book House in Littleton, and is survived by his wife Marila, daughter Lin Simpson, son James Turquette, grandsons Troy Ty and Jason Kaplan, and other relatives. Military honors will be given at the Rio Rancho Veterans Memorial with a future celebration planned.
