Training pay off for boxer McClain in Rio Rancho gym

From Sept 18 1985 Rio Rancho Observer Sean McClain, a 16 year old boxer, trained to seize a national title and won in 53 seconds after stopping Norris Griggs in Albuquerque. The bout drew nearly 7,000 fans as the referee halted the first round after a powerful punch.

Firefighters Deliver Comfort After Local Boy Injury in Page

Jack Poccia, a Page patient, endured a scary accident but the Rio Rancho fire crews stayed longer to keep him comfortable at the scene. They visited the hospital, brought a coloring book and fire hat, and adults were checked on as well. Jack's family praised the crews for professionalism and compassion while he recovers from a month in a full-leg cast and a half-cast.

Shelter pets up for adoption in Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho Animal Control advertises adoptable dogs and cats at the city shelter located at 344 Northern Blvd. Call 891-5075 or visit rio rancho petfinder dot com for more pets. Shelter hours run 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday with office hours other times. Dog adoption events held 9 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Saturdays at High Resort Dag Park, 3501 High Resort Blvd.
