District delays RRHS principal search amid nationwide shortage

Rio Rancho Public Schools will delay hiring a new high school principal to late fall due to a shortage of qualified principals. Interim RRHS principal Gary Tripp will remain until a successor is chosen, with goals to have someone in place by the 2000 2001 school year. The district assistant superintendent search narrows to seven finalists and a Sept 13 board decision is anticipated. An in state candidate may start soon, while an out of state hire would need a month to relocate.
