Rubber duck dash raises funds for Albuquerque groups

More than 23 000 yellow ducks sold for the second annual Rubber Duck Dash benefiting Working Classroom Inc and the Albuquerque Rotary Charitable Foundation. Over 4 000 attended as Gov. Gary Johnson launched the race at Rio Grande Valley State Park. Louie Tafoya won a Chevrolet S 10 pickup. Stan Guinn took third with a three month family membership to New Mexico Sports and Wellness.

Openings for Family School Program at Enchanted Hills

The Family School Program at Enchanted Hills Elementary in the Rio Rancho School District has openings for first through sixth graders. Small class sizes provide instruction in science, technology, social studies, literature, and music four half-days weekly, plus one on one core instruction at home. Shelter of Love fashion show at Hyatt Regency Albuquerque

The second annual Shelter of Love high teach and fashion show takes place at 2:30 p.m. November 14 at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque with KOB-TV anchors and Judge Diane Dal Santo as emcees. Proceeds go to Pennies for the Homeless. tickets are 50 dollars per person, 500 per table. Proceeds fund local agencies.

Rio Rancho Sports Complex expansion eyed near arroyo

Rio Rancho plans to expand the 78 acre sports complex by 15 more acres adjacent to the site. UNM civil engineering students will assist with planning in a senior design project while SSCAFCA funds a drainage line and grading to make the area accessible.

Heavy August rains cut Rio Rancho water use

Heavy August rainfall drove Rio Rancho water use down to 323 million gallons, the lowest in four years. Compared with August 1998 1997 and 1996, the current month saw notably reduced consumption while Albuquerque also reported lower pumping thanks to more rain and conservation efforts. Albuquerque has used 24.26 billion gallons year to date, down from 25.21 billion in 1998.
