Dogs a cat fish a hamster and gerbils appeared at Community of Joy Lutheran Church on Oct. 3. Pet owners from around Rio Rancho gathered on Saratoga Road for an Animal Blessing Service with Pastor Michael Bastian delivering blessings.

Birthday memorial honors officer Benner with community vigil

Balloons reading Happy Birthday adorned the fenced memorial and attendees shared chocolate cake as balloons were released in England and Australia. Benner thanked the crowd before the countdown, praising continued community support after he was fatally shot during a Memorial Day traffic stop.

ASK Academy moves to Sundt Road campus home
The ASK Academy advances to its new Sundt Road site west of the Rio Rancho Boys and Girls Club. A $7 million, 38,000 square foot building will house classrooms plus bio medical engineering and CAD labs, with a move planned for December and classes starting in January for sixth through 12th graders.
