R J's fundraiser and officer Benner’s memory

R J inspired a jar project that drew praise from RAPD and APD officers including Deputy Chief Steven Beckett and Captain Paul Rogers. Lopez recalls a custody dispute led to contact with Benner, who intervened at the school then was killed on patrol. The boy donated Benner’s stuffed animal to the police and kept his giving spirit alive.

Mayor's Barbecue at Haynes Park This Thursday

Haven House marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month with two events. The Mayor's Barbecue at Haynes Park starts at 5 30 p m featuring a family picnic music a silent auction and prizes. Donations of toiletries Pajamas jackets sheets and kids items are appreciated. A 1k fun run at Lincoln Middle School on Saturday Oct 24 at 9 30 am precedes the event with onsite registration and no fee.
