Local Rio Rancho students win international science awards
Rio Rancho High School seniors Travis Crockett and L Elisabeth Burton excelled at the Intel ISEF in Pittsburgh. Crockett won third place in Physics and Astronomy with a $1,000 prize, plus $1,500 from the Air Force Research Laboratory and a $4,000 tuition scholarship and trip to the London Forum. Burton earned two $1,000 special awards from the APA and from NIDA/NIH/Friends of NIDA for her project on body talk, risk assessments, media images, and self esteem.

Police raid uncovers meth guns and porn in home
Rio Rancho Police say an early morning raid found methamphetamine, three handguns, an assault rifle, ammunition, and distribution materials at 1833 Sierra Norte Loop. In a child’s backpack investigators uncovered two DVDs of pornography. the 5-year-old son is in state custody. Sean Norris and Heather Villagomez were arrested and later released.
