Rio Rancho mill levy over hospitals faces vote delay
Sandoval County commissioners hesitate over renewing the 4.25 mill property tax funding Rio Rancho’s two hospitals. City Councilor Chuck Wilkins proposed sending the levy back to voters or redirecting funds to police and fire, risking a lawsuit if ended now. County officials note tax would cost $141.67 per year per $100,000 and has raised about $37.8 million for Presbyterian Rust Medical Center and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center.
