Baseball Coach Ron Murphy Named District Coach of the Year

Ron Murphy earned District 1-6A Coach of the Year as Wyatt Kelley shared Player of the Year honors with Chris Padilla of Volcano Vista. Kelley joined Jared Bock and Eddy Vasquez on the All-District first team, with Wille Baez and Nick Smith on the second team. Noah Ero and Damian Admire earned honorable mention.

RRHS Girls Soccer Camp Set For June 8 to 12

The RRHS girls soccer program invites boys and girls ages 5 to 14 to a week long youth camp from 9 a.m. to noon at the RRHS soccer fields June 8 through 12. Registration is online at the RRPS website or by calling coach Uwe Balzis at 306 4313.

Rio Rancho Rams Hoop Camp Sets Two Week Sessions

The seventh annual Rio Rancho Rams Basketball Summer Camp runs June 1 to 5 and June 15 to 19, for boys and girls entering grades 1 through 9. Sessions run 9 a.m. to noon with locations RRHS and Rio Rancho Middle School. Coach Wally Salata and assistants lead instruction. campers receive a shirt and basketball. 2015 Rio Rancho Youth Football Combine details

The 2015 Rio Rancho Youth Football Combine occurs June 19 and 20 at Rio Rancho Stadium from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Online registration runs through June 15 at ramscamps.com with $55 before deadline and $65 after. incoming AAHS freshmen pay $25. The event features drills, demonstrations, speakers, shirts, team championships, a dance-off, pizza, ice cream, and a Saturday concession. All ages welcome. wear workout clothes and cleats. Six Storm earn All-District first team honors in baseball

Six Storm on 1-6A first team Baseball players Mikal Rojas Vincent Aragon Treston Shallenberger Landry Hayes Chris Chapman and Riley Peterson were named to the All-District first team last week. Brandon Larson Nick Ramirez and Justice Jackson were on the second team, E.J. Rendon and Neil Evans were honorable-mention selections.

Golf scramble to aid Storm football boosters at Club Rio Rancho

An 18 hole golf scramble is set for Saturday June 20 at Club Rio Rancho to benefit the Storm football boosters. Entry is 100 per player or 400 per team with prizes for top teams and contests like closest to the hole and longest drive. Sponsorships 100 per hole 450 for team or hole deals. Davie Talks Lobos at Rio Rancho Luncheon

UNM coach Bob Davie spoke at the Sandoval County Lobo Club luncheon in Rio Rancho about the 2015 Lobos and potential scrimmages. He highlighted Rio Rancho stars Cole Gautsche and Reece White as pivotal recruits, noted seven home games, urged higher Lobo Club memberships, and reflected on program progress and sustainability.

UNM football looks to build on 2014 surge with local trio

UNM entering 2015 with three former prep standouts Reece White Romell Jordan and Zack Rogers joining head coach Davie as the Lobos push for a bowl bid. Jordan recalls a 73 yard first NCAA TD run and a near upset at Arizona State while White cites the late game winner against New Mexico State. Rogers eyes his final UNM season as the team aims for improved depth and a stronger defense under Davie who notes progress since 2012 and the stadium upgrades boosting program confidence.
