The Rio Rancho Rams Basketball Summer Camp returns for two sessions June 1-5 and June 15-19 for boys and girls entering grades 1-9. Sessions run 9 am to noon with RRHS for grades 1-5 and Rio Rancho Middle School for grades 6-9. Rio Rancho High School, last year’s 5A champ, was set to meet Alamogordo in a Class 6A semifinal at Lobo Field after Friday’s rainout. The Rams rolled to an 18 hit, 15-? victory with Castaneda three RBIs, then edged Las Cruces 5-4 as Gallegos and O’Meara added two hits each. Victoria Lopez tossed both games, while Rio Rancho chased a potential three-game run in a rain-delayed weekend.
Rio Rancho's Rams beat Mayfield 3-1 as catcher Chris Carr returns from a 45 day suspension to star at Lobo Field. Lightning delayed most games in Albuquerque with Eldorado awaiting semifinal results and venue for the championship unclear. Hobbs upsets Ostate 6-5 and Volcano Vista blanks Sandia 13-0 in other quarterfinals.
Cleveland High School storms to the Class 6A boys golf state championship with Dominique Galloway winning medalist honors for the third straight year. The CHS girls finish as runners-up as Deming captures the team title. Deming's Darian Zadek earns third place. The Storm total 731 for the team, while Deming tops by five on day two.
