Gettysburg of the West talk at Sandoval County Museum

Matt Barbour, manager of the Jemez Historic Site, discusses the Gettysburg of the West at 2 p.m. at the Sandoval County Historical Society Museum. The talk covers Confederate victories in New Mexico, a turning point in the war, and a 1987 mass grave discovery. Corrales Library Story Delights Community Fund Drive

Corrales Historical Society hosts a 7 pm talk at Old San Ysidro Church about building Corrales new village library. The tiny 1957 cinderblock library outgrew itself as volunteers and residents formed a committee, secured land, hired an architect, and raised funds. Groundbreaking occurred April 1, 1978, with dedication in October 1979. Longtime volunteers recount the community effort.

Rio Rancho invites registrations for its Memorial Day parade on May 25 and the Fourth of July parade on July 4. Lineup starts 9 a.m. at Country Club Drive, parades depart at 10 a.m. traveling east on Southern Boulevard to end at Veterans Monument Park near Pinetree Road.
