Rio Rancho couple face delayed hearing over alleged minor film abuse

Robert and Ruthann Stepnowski, plus Linda Connick, were arrested March 6 on charges of contributing to the delinquency of minors by making adult films in the presence of a six year old son and seven year old daughter. Additional counts include drug paraphernalia and controlled substance possession. Police seized over $100,000 in filming gear, cameras, films, photographs, syringes, a white powdery substance, and firearms from the Stepnowski residence at 207 Summer Winds, where Connick had been living. The hearing date for the preliminary proceeding remains in limbo after a prior reschedule.

Two Rio Rancho officers indicted in April Phil's Pub shooting

The Sandoval County grand jury indicted off duty Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety officers Don Womble and J W Wilson for the fatal April 19 shooting at Phil's Pub. Womble faces second degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm charges. Wilson is charged with aiding and abetting aggravated battery and carrying a firearm into a liquor establishment. Both men are suspended without pay as state police investigate. Kevin Kirk, 32, of Corrales, was killed.

Pacelli admits ball was dropped on funds pursuit

Unit 16 officials faced questions on cooperative funds from the state highway department and the city infrastructure fund. City leaders said funds are used at the council's discretion in high impact areas while residents complained of political motives as about 100 citizens attended the Monday meeting.

Summer Programs Registration Set by Rio Rancho Parks

The Rio Rancho Department of Parks and Recreation will hold registration for all summer programs on May 19 and 21 from 7 to 9 p.m at the city auditorium. For information on programs for adults and children, contact the park and recreation department at 892-6704 ext 48.

Sunrise Village a retirement community by AMREP Southwest and Merit Southwest Development on Meadowlark Lane. Driving class set Thursday in Rio Rancho auditorium

The American Association of Retired Persons 55/Alive Mature Driving Class is scheduled for Thursday morning from 8 to 12. It will run on subsequent Thursdays at the same time.
