State economic secretary resigns to join Intel

Bill Garcia resigns as New Mexico State Economic Development Secretary after three and a half years to become Intel's public affairs manager at its Rio Rancho plant. He will oversee community and media relations and help shape public policy strategies. Garcia cites career growth and family as factors. Critics cite potential conflicts of interest, but Intel says Garcia was recruited for his broad experience. Garcia previously helped win Intel’s 1.8 billion expansion incentives. Barbara Brazil remains with Intel as government relations manager.
