Sandoval County to Put August Liquor Vote on Ballot

The county commission set August 5 for a Sunday liquor sales question in unincorporated Sandoval County. The measure asks if Sunday drinks may be sold for on premise consumption by licensed establishments in the local option district. A loitering ordinance to post No Trespassing signs was approved. Several items were tabled, including a police and fire dispatch joint powers agreement, a personnel ordinance, and a Northwest Loop Road resolution. The dedication of right of way for the state Northwest Loop Highway was postponed to July 1. The loop would run through AMREP and King Brothers Ranch land, linking State Road 528 to I-40 West near Rio Puerco, with final alignment pending archeological and environmental impact studies. The county won’t pay right-of-way costs but may use eminent domain if needed, and may enter agreements with state and federal entities to allow temporary roads to the Hawk Missile Site. National Guard access from private property is restricted.
