Intel Rio Rancho plant reportedly axes layoffs

KOAT TV cites a source reporting layoffs at Intel’s Rio Rancho plant with no disclosed numbers. Intel spokeswoman says no plans to leave New Mexico and mayor notes no direct word from the company, while the plant’s workforce has trended downward in recent years from 5,300 in 1980 to about 2,300 today.

Teens Charged In Rio Rancho Cyber Attack on Enfamil Site

Three Cleveland High students Sylvain Jones 16 Sergio Velasquez 15 and Joshua Van Gilder 17 face felony charges of computer abuse and conspiracy after a Rio Rancho police report says they orchestrated a cyber attack on the Enfamil baby formula site from a school computer. FBI and Secret Service involvement followed the incident which began shortly before summer break and prompted district and federal action including warnings about web access.

Rio Rancho eyes world swimming lesson record

Rio Rancho officials plan a Guinness entry for the world s largest swimming lesson with Rainbow Pool and partners across the U S and 23 countries. More than 800 locations and tens of thousands of kids were expected to participate, including Las Cruces and Los Alamos.

Governor signs $290 million New Mexico capital outlay package

Gov. Susana Martinez signed a capital outlay package of more than $290 million after a special session. The measure funds about $5.5 million for Sandoval County projects including nearly $2.5 million for Rio Rancho, with 19 city projects and road rights of way for Paseo del Volcan plus Rio Rancho middle school security upgrades. She vetoed $70,000 in county allocations, including a $45,000 San Ysidro water loan and $25,000 for a Zia Pueblo court building.
