Maui Money Luau supports Make-A-Wish in Rio Rancho
The fifth annual Maui Money Luau at Club Rio Rancho pools 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. invites the public to raise funds for Make-A-Wish New Mexico. Rio Rancho Visionaries sponsor a $1 raffle with prizes like an iPad and gift cards, plus $1 limbo and hula hoop contests to help local children with life threatening conditions. Last year they raised $4,300 and aim for over $5,000 in 2015. Make-A-Wish New Mexico grants more than 130 wishes annually.

Public meeting on Rio Rancho booster station plans

New Mexico Orthopedic Associates opens its first Rio Rancho site at 2100 Unser Blvd near Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. Man dies on I 25 from self made shotgun near Algodones
A man identified as Antony Profitt 27 of Albuquerque died from a self inflicted gunshot on the shoulder of I 25 north of Algodones. Investigators described a homemade pipe bomb like device that fired a 12 gauge shell. Traffic was reduced to one lane while the scene was secured andBomb Unit helped ensure safety.
