The city fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30. By May construction GRT income rose 41.7 percent from the same period last year, with the finance and real estate sector up 13.9 percent and most growth in real estate, rental and leasing. Retail growth slowed to 5.8 percent in May while utilities and manufacturing decline 13.9 percent and 26.6 percent respectively.

Macen Holderman, now cancer free after osteosarcoma treatment, returns to Rio Rancho for a Relay for Life weekend July 24 25 at Rio Rancho High School track. The event features survivor laps, bands, food trucks, games, and a 1980s anniversary theme. Proceeds fund cancer services and research.
