Rio Rancho hosts lively 4th of July celebration
Independence Day festivities in Rio Rancho included a parade, barbecue and fireworks under sunny skies then cloudy weather. Uncle Sam saluted Capt. James Eisenhower of Kirtland AFB as Ancient Bones played at Pork & Brew. Cub Scout Pack 17 joined 1,040 shells at Rio Rancho High School while Bill Siegel dished free hot dogs and watermelon on Southern Boulevard. A weekend softball tournament and the Corbin Hayes Memorial Flag Football event also took place at local venues.
