City district hoops season opens for four varsity teams

The four city 1-6A varsity teams begin district play after strong non district showings. CHS boys lead with 16 1 and 1 start, RRHS boys reach 14 4, while CHS and RAHS girls face tougher openers and seek improvements as the district slate begins this week.

Cleveland Storm finish fifth at Flowing Wells Invitational

CHS wrestling team led by Mikey Mascarenas who placed third at 106 pounds as Cleveland finished fifth among 38 teams at Flowing Wells Invitational in Tucson. Coach Corey Anderson praised improvement and emphasized bonus-point wins while noting event offered broader competition than Joe Vivian.

Personal bests propel champions in Tenpins & More event

Four bowlers posted personal best averages as champions crowned in the Champion of Champions tournament at Tenpins & More. Charles Tully swept the men’s final with a 240.5 average, Rick Galindo briefly led, and Becky Luco led women with a 209.7 average. Senior winner Dunnington dominated, Carson Opera led juniors, and Skidz teams claimed High Team titles with Tenpins & More taking top spots in men and Adrienne Hare and others posting strong marks.
