Silver Star for New Mexico Marine in Afghanistan Action

New Mexico born Marine Sergeant Andrew Seif, 27, son of a Rio Rancho family, will receive the Silver Star for bold action in Afghanistan on July 24, 2012. He entered a compound under fire to engage an insurgent, moved a wounded comrade to safety, and provided cover fire until enemy contact ended, saving a fellow marine who later died. Seif has multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and was named Marine of the Year by the USO in 2013.

Nicolette Pacheco a 17 year old Cleveland High School senior from Rio Rancho won Miss Teen New Mexico USA 2015 at Las Cruces Convention Center. She is a two time all state cross country athlete and will travel to Paradise Island Bahamas in July for Miss Teen USA. Alexis Duprey of Alamogordo was crowned Miss New Mexico USA at the same event.
