Gardening Therapy Lecture for Dementia at Loma Colorado Library

A free Thursday lecture from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Loma Colorado Main Library in Rio Rancho presents Hank Bruce and Tomi Jill Folk talking about therapeutic gardening for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The couple, horticultural therapists, discuss using plants and related activities to boost quality of life and interaction, drawing on their Kindle minibook and several published works.

Local youth auditions open for Rio Rancho Youth Chorus

Rio Rancho Youth Chorus invites singers aged 12 to 18 to audition on Saturday at Community of Joy Lutheran Church. No prior chorus experience required. Venus Wainright remembered as Meadowlark Center pillar

Longtime Meadowlark Senior Center volunteer Marvine Venus Wainright, 78, died two days after Christmas. She connected with many at the center, organized Red Hat events, supported NewMexPex shows, and helped at stamp and chess gatherings. Memorial Sunday at Sagebrush Community Church. Survivors include three sons, two daughters, 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
