Sandoval County seed library hosts orientation and workshop

Esther Bone Memorial Library runs a seed library started a year ago guided by Judy Jacobs and Cande Lewis. They offer a 10 am orientation on joining, seed checkout, and donation steps, plus a seed starting workshop covering soil, germination, lighting, watering, transplanting and hardening.

New Mexico professor to discuss 1918 influenza impact

On January 13 at 6 30 p m professor Shannon Withycombe will discuss the 1918 influenza pandemic at Esther Bone Memorial Library. The talk covers global reach with about 20 percent of the world infected and around 600 000 American deaths. It notes many WW I fatalities in Europe were due to the virus and examines effects on New Mexicans.

QuiltWeek debuts in Albuquerque at Convention Center

The American Quilters Society launches a four day QuiltWeek in Albuquerque running today through Saturday. It brings renowned artists instructors and quilters to the Albuquerque Convention Center with over 15 000 attendees for workshops exhibits and Merchant Mall. Olivia Arrington from Chicago joins Rach Williams and Roy Bates at The Stage for Stand-up Comedy Thursdays. Arrington blends a sunny outlook and family life with humor about dieting and credit scores. Williams from Houston pivots from failed R&B to witty storytelling on dating and adulthood. Placitas Library hosts Harriet Neal photography exhibition

The Placitas Library in the Collin Meeting Room Gallery presents Harriet Neal's photography through Jan. 29. Neal, based in Placitas with husband Jim, showcases works across the West from Wyoming fumaroles to backyard wildflowers and ancient ruins, reflecting a spiritual bond with the environment.
