CHS wrestlers lead state rankings before holiday break
Cibola High School wrestlers hold top state positions with only one loss prior to Christmas. Robert Marquez 7-0 at 119 pounds defends his state title, Bill Yarbrough 7-0 at 171 pounds and Andy Singer 3-0 in heavyweight also undefeated, with multiple pins. Other leaders include Cisco Sedillo 5-2 at 125, Clarence Sena 6-1 at 135, Matt Gurule 5-2 at 189, and Marty Martinez 3-1 in heavyweight. The Cougars restart at the Eldorado Tournament this weekend.

Bernalillo High School defeated El Paso Bowie 53 41 to win the Stu Clark Invitational in Las Vegas. The top ranked Class AAA Spartans led 9 9 after one period and outscored Bowie in the next three quarters. Senior Mike Woods led with 13 points after returning from a pre season broken arm.
