Arroya culvert replacement along Idalia Road set to run March to July

City officials say construction to replace a failing culvert under Idalia at Arroyo de la Barranca will run March 14 through July, 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday with weekend work as needed. Idalia west of Iris and east of Althea Court will be closed. residents retain access. Detours and signs will guide drivers. watch for trucks and crews. The project costs about 504000 dollars, funded from the general fund.

Rio Rancho voters choose council seats and bond issue

Rio Rancho's municipal election is set for Tuesday with ten candidates running for city council seats in districts 1 4 and 6. A road bond and charter amendments are on the ballot. Voters may cast ballots 7 am to 7 pm at four locations including City Hall Meadowlark Senior Center Mountain View Middle School and Soul Rio Community Church.

Rio Rancho capital outlay bill funds fire dept and schools

The nearly 166 million capital outlay bill, sponsored by Rep. Jason Harper and Rep. Tim Lewis of Rio Rancho, allocates funds for Rio Rancho Fire Rescue Department and Rio Rancho Public Schools and includes Paseo del Volcan right of way. The measure passed the Senate before session end on Feb. 19 and awaits Gov. Susana Martinez's signature or line item veto.

Milken Educator Award Presented to DeGroot Instructor

Gov Susana Martinez and Education Secretary Hanna Skandera announced veteran educator DeGroot as a Milken Educator Award recipient at a student assembly. DeGroot has taught at The ASK Academy for two years after spending nine years at Rio Rancho schools teaching human anatomy and physiology.

SandRidge Withdraws Rio Rancho Sandoval Zone Change

SandRidge Energy withdrew its application to drill an exploratory and production oil well west of Rio Rancho. In a Feb 23 letter to Sandoval County Planning and Zoning, the company cited regulatory hurdles and low commodity prices as reasons, and said it will focus on assets in the Mid Continent and Colorado.

Governing Body OKs Curb North Settlement in Rio Rancho

The Rio Rancho Governing Body approved a 280000 settlement with Curb North Inc in a lawsuit over a 2012 two year impact fee moratorium. Curb North sought 5.6 million alleging the moratorium devalued impact fee credits tied to Cabezon subdivision.
