Right to Eat Enchiladas bill killed in New Mexico House
In New Mexico the Right to Eat Enchiladas Act was defeated on party lines in the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee. The measure would shield food producers and suppliers from frivolous liability cases by individuals claiming illness or obesity from overeating. Rep. Terry Marquardt blamed rising obesity and costly lawsuits, while Democrats opposed the reform. Also, Gov. Richardson proclaimed February 22, 2005 as Lobos Appreciation Day after UNM's 65-54 win over Utah Utes, with Coach Ritchie McKay earning his 20th victory.
