Rio Rancho volunteers clean up the mesa in seventh annual Love Your City cleanup
More than 60 volunteers braved wind rain and mud to clear illegal dumpsites on the mesa west of Rio Rancho. The effort, sponsored by Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful and Waste Management, collected over 20 tons of waste and removed three abandoned vehicles with help from the Arroyo Flood Control Authority. Martial Arts for Education students gathered 10 to 15 trash bags along Northern Boulevard. Volunteers used six 30 cubic yard dumpsters to hold debris. One volunteer, Brian Boysen, moved from California three months ago and joined with his Tacoma truck.

Legislators reached the midway point of the 2005 60 day session as Feb 17 passed the last day to introduce bills. A total of 2700+ items, including capital outlay requests, were submitted in both houses. House has sent 67 bills to the Senate, with several HB proposals under Senate review, including HB 238, HB 61, HB 226, and HB 227. Senate committees are weighing SB 18 SB 49 and other measures. The 2005 Legislature ends March 19.
