District weighs growth as boundaries shift for 2005-06

Officials note enrollment could rise by about 900 students by 2006-07 and over the next 12 to 15 years, driving the need for a new middle school at 15 to 18 million dollars and a high school around 60 million. Future elementary schools will be built for 800 students, with Southwest Elementary opening for about 400 and expanding to 750. Option 7 moves some Puesta del Sol and MLK students and splits North Hills to Stapleton Elementary, with two-year existence for new boundaries and tweaks to middle school feeder paths affecting fifth graders.
