Fine Says Reputation Harmed After Dropped Charges

Rio Rancho City Councilor Cory Fine says he hopes to get on with his life after sexual molestation charges were dropped. Assistant District Attorney Armando Torres cited inconsistent testimony from the accuser as the reason for dismissal. Fine, 27, faced three felony counts and up to 12 years if convicted, and he condemns the impact on his name while urging judicial reforms including the grand jury system. He contends he may pursue legal remedies for damages and seeks to rehabilitate his life and contribute to reform efforts. He notes continued challenges to his reputation and planning a return to normal life, including seeking employment.

Flood commissioner seeks efficiency in Sandoval County

Alan Wylie, Sandoval County flood commissioner, proposes replacing the office with a larger Arroyo flood control authority-like entity including Bernalillo and Placitas. The Corrales resident, appointed last May, argues the job lacks staff and office space and is paid only $19 a year, making an expanded, tax-funded agency the best way to control area flooding.

County, City, and League Agree on Joint Ballfield Use

Rio Rancho City Council approved a joint-use lease with Cibola Little League for ballfields to serve both city and county residents. The league retains first priority during April to August each year, with rent of 25000 for year one. Lights planned for March will enable night games, drawing scrutiny from nearby residents who were not consulted. The final agreement will outline scheduling, maintenance, and insurance costs.
