City of Rio Rancho bond plan to fund roads and schools
The governing board considers a $9 million general obligation bond for Sara Road and High Resort Boulevard improvements funded by a $7.30 yearly tax hike on a $100,000 home for two years. A second option would raise $13 million with a $38.40 tax, plus reconstruction of Southern from May Circle to Sara Road. A third option would add an eighth-cent gross receipts tax yielding about $1.2 million annually. A $10 million memo supports UNM West facilities funding with matching if statewide bonds pass in 2016. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.
